Listening Large

The children of God need to be big listeners, big listeners inwardly to the voice of God.  It has been said that the human ear can detect some 340,000 different tones!  I wonder how many spiritual tones the regenerated ear is capable of hearing in the voice of God....   The children of God need to be listening LARGE. Why is that? Because the voice of God is so often a still small voice. By listening large we can balance out and make up for the smallness of that voice. Jesus was and is such a big listener to the voice of the Father, which was why so many of his statements began with “Amen” or “Amen, Amen” or “verily”, or “let it be so, let it be so, Father”, simply reflecting what he was hearing the Father say. Listening, always listening, even when speaking if it were possible, and silent when nothing as far as we can tell is being said, echoing and reflecting even the great silence. It is a still small voice but it is a great silence from which it emerges, and which emerges out of it. Listening large we wait less for evaluation of what we say, it's already been evaluated! Listening large we tend also to be better listeners for those to whom we speak.
