You Must Not Be A Silent Person

You must not be a silent person. Express your feelings. Seek help when needed. Don't pretend that everything is okay. Don't always go along just to get along. You do not have to to passively accept being in an abusive, codependent, or dysfunctional relationship. If you are a a religious person, do not use church or religious activities as a disguise for your problems. Don't allow your past to determine your future. You must take responsibility for your life. Things will not get any better if you do not take action. They will simply lead to emotional despair like low self-esteem, depression, broken marriages and even suicide.

A person in my church a few years ago had some personal and marriage issues, but no one knew the depth of despair he was experiencing. To my knowledge he never came forward to aggressively seek help, and at the time the church had a recovery ministry. Some of us in the church found out a little later that he was found homeless and deceased on the streets of Los Angeles. It was, indeed, a sad ending that didn't have to happen. There are several other people I have known or relatives of friends, who have committed suicide. People often greet one another with "How are you? I'm fine." I came across an acronym for fine: Feelings Inside Needing Expression.

If you are having problems and need help, speak up. There is no need to remain silent. It does not mean that you are weak if you need help. There are all kinds of sources of help available. Going to counseling does not mean that you are a failure. Think of counseling more as a preventative measure. If you cannot afford it, find a priest, rabbi, or pastor who is ALSO TRAINED IN COUNSELING.

At the least, go to a person who will simply give you a listening ear, if nothing else. There is no reason why your problems have to escalate to psychological or emotional issues. You owe it to yourself, to your family, and to your relationships. Find a listening ear and get practical help. If you are suffering depression get on medication, if possible. There are 24-hour help lines to give you the support you need.

Don't pretend like you don't have problems. Come out of denial. You must admit that you need help and take the necessary action. If you are reading this and need to talk to someone, set up an appointment now, not next week or next month, but right away. The consequences of your problems don't procrastinate!

Get someone who is willing to call you or visit you on a regular basis, and who is willing and able to assume responsibility for YOU. Find an accountability partner who will keep you on track with progress toward dealing with your issues. You do not have to let your life drift into emotional despair, but it will if you do nothing. Do everything you can, within your control, to put a stop to your downward spiral into despair.

Fifteen years ago I was in emotional despair. I decided to do something about it. My life turned around with a lot of hard work, and a huge amount of God's grace. Today I am a published author, writer, and speaker, who is able to help other people have healing and hope. You, also, can see your life turn around and be of value to other people.

Get the help you need, right away. Do not let another day go by without doing it. Along with that, consider finding new hope in Jesus Christ. Click on the link below to find out how.
