DIVINE HEALING IS NOT A PROMISE IT’S A ‘FACT’

‘By whose stripes you ‘were’ healed’

1 Peter 2:24 is not a healing promise indeed it is not any kind of promise. God does not promise you anything in this verse. There is only the statement that Jesus did something for you. God did not say that he would heal you. He said that you ‘were’ already healed by Jesus' stripes. See it as God sees it a done deal, a finished work for when you begin to agree with God on this matter, you can receive what's yours.

This same verse 1 Peter 2:24 does not promise salvation from sin either it simply tells what Jesus did for you it is up to you to accept the truth and to act on it.

People make a mistake when they cite this verse as God's promise to heal them for a promise to heal you would put your healing off into the future.
Listen; this his verse puts it in the past tense, God’s word says that Jesus ‘has already healed you’
If you are simply "believing’’ that God ‘will’ heal you, you are not in agreement with God at all. You are saying he will and ‘he is saying he ‘has’ healed you already’

The obvious question is; if you are healed, why are you experiencing pain in your body? This is probably the greatest misunderstanding that people and in particular Christians have.

We know from many Scriptures that Jesus bore the sin of the whole world on the cross we understand that he was punished in our place, thus purchasing complete forgiveness for us. The Scriptures say that he ‘atoned not only for our sins, but the sins of the whole world’ (1 John 2:2).
Yet not everyone is saved because only some have received the forgiveness that is already theirs in Christ. Those who do not receive this forgiveness do not benefit from it.
When a sinner receives forgiveness, Jesus does nothing new; the sinner simply acts on the truth as revealed to them and receives what Jesus already made available to all through the cross.

No one would ever get saved just by repeating, ‘God promised to save me in John 3:16’ it is not enough that the price was paid and the provision was made, the sinner is only saved when he receives something that already belongs to him as far as God is concerned. Salvation from sin does indeed belong to everyone, but only those who receive it get it.

Likewise, healing belongs to everyone. It is part of the same atonement but only those who receive it get it. Its not enough to just believe that Jesus made it available to you, you need to believe it until you receive it for God considers you healed by the stripes of Jesus.

What the Apostle Peter didn't say;

Peter did not say that you are not sick. He did not say that your sickness must be a figment of your imagination because you are really healed, to think like this is incorrect and dangerous; you could die denying the symptoms in your body.

The statement, "You were healed" does not mean that you cannot get sick. Epaphroditus and Timothy were sick, and Paul did not spiritualize this.
Peter's statement must be understood to say that you are legally healed by the stripes of Jesus, just as you were legally saved even before you were born again. In other words, healing belongs to you as a Christian. It is part of your inheritance in Christ. Sickness may manifest in your body, but you have a right to demand that it leaves.

Don't go begging for what already belongs to you;
You would hardly go to the supermarket and repay for groceries you have already paid for would you?? Of course you wouldn't. You simply receive something that rightfully belongs to you because it’s paid for. When something rightfully belongs to you, you do not beg for it you simply ask and receive it.

When you go to the bank, do you beg the bank clerk to give you money from your account? Of course not! If there is money in the account it rightfully belongs to you and you have a right to make a withdrawal at any time you choose.

That is why it is unproductive and useless to beg God for your healing, it’s foolish to beg and plead for something that is already yours. Instead, receive healing from God just as you would withdraw money from your bank account after all he has already deposited the health you need by paying it in him self.
Because you have accepted his Son Jesus and made him Lord of your life you are an heir and a joint heir to the kingdom of Heaven and you have a legal right to withdraw from its resources at any time.

In God's mind, you are ‘already healed’ by the stripes of Jesus. Nothing can possibly change this fact, you never have to question Gods will in healing or whether or not healing is yours, because it has been settled once and for all.

Your healing already exists!

Don't treat your healing as though God has to suddenly dash around heaven and create it for you, your healing already exists! It is waiting for you to take it; health is already laid it up for you. Remember that faith is the assurance of something that is unseen. (Hebrews 11:1) If your healing did not exist, you could not have faith to ask for it, because there would be no unseen thing to have an assurance of!

You are not creating anything with your prayers you are receiving something already purchased and provided for. Jesus said to ‘believe that you receive when you pray’ Mark 11:24, when you receive healing, you are taking something that already exists, a gift that God is offering to you.
He does not have to develop some new healing medicine for you in heaven; he was not caught out by your illness he prepared and paid for it on the cross.

One of most awesome statements in the Bible is ‘God has given to you all things that pertain to life and godliness’ (see 2 Peter 1:3-4) how foolish to believe that this would exclude healing your needs have already been fully supplied in Christ.

When you believe for a need to be met, you are simply making a withdrawal from heaven of something that has already been laid up for you. Full provision for everything that you need is waiting for you to believe, claim and receive it and that includes divinely bought health.

Some religious people get upset when you talk about claiming things, but that really is what you're doing!
If I go on holiday the airline issues me with a receipt for my luggage, it identifies it as mine regardless what country I go to -- it's mine. No one gets mad when I claim my luggage and no one should ever get annoyed at you for claiming your healing or anything else that pertains to life and godliness -- it's yours!

To hear some talk it’s as if you're going to empty heaven by making too great a demand on heaven's resources, but you can't possibly do that. Everything that everyone needs has already been laid up in Christ! The whole body of Christ could ask for their entire inheritance at once and it wouldn't even put a dent in God's unlimited power.

If God wants people healed, why doesn't he heal them?

In his mind, he has healed them already... He declares that you were healed by the stripes of Jesus (1st Peter 2:24). Anyone can receive healing just as anyone can be saved from his sins. God has made provision for everyone's healing.

This question is in the same category as: ‘If God wants people saved, why doesn’t he save them?’
Even though God is the Lord of the whole earth he will not simply take over and set things to order, he gave all authority on earth to Adam and because Christ gave the redeemed authority back to his church. He must wait until some person on the earth prays believing, at which point he can legally move in answer to that prayer.

God treats healing the same way he treats salvation from sins. Anyone can have it, but you only get it when you ask. If you ask not, you'll have not (James 4:2).

This is one reason it is so important to follow Jesus' commission to teach men all that he taught, and not stop at the "salvation from sin" aspect of the gospel.
If anyone is properly taught concerning God's New Testament healing covenant, he can be healed when Jesus sent the 70 he told them to go and preach the good news and to teach about the kingdom of God, without stopping he told them to heal the sick. You see it’s only when people are taught about God’s willingness and desire to heal the sick that people get healed. ‘Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God ‘Romans 10:17 in the same way by hearing the word, anyone who is taught about forgiveness of sins through Jesus Christ can be born again.

It's God's will, but people must hear and respond in faith to the gospel for this same pattern applies for both forgiveness and healing.
