Proverbs 27:3
NIV Stone is heavy and sand a burden, but provocation by a fool is heavier than both.
KJV A stone is heavy, and the sand weighty; but a fool's wrath is heavier than them both.

We are not fools, in Jesus' name, but wise because we seek His counsel. However, we are human, all of us. I know of nobody that I could consider to be wiser (except the Lord) than my own mother. But, with all due respect and honor, I can honestly say she has said/done a few foolish things in my lifetime that directly affected me and they have laid heavily on my heart, more so than the weight of a stone or the burden of sand. It really is the word of those you love most that has the greatest effect.

In seeking the WISEST counsel however, we have the strength to not only carry that weight, but the wisdom to lay down the burden of it. Wisdom IS ours and it is as simple as asking HIM (the One whom all wisdom belongs to) for the increase.

The character of Forest Gump said "Stupid is as stupid does." If that is true, then it could also be said that a fool is as he so foolishly does. We have all done a foolish thing or two. That does not make us all fools. It simply makes us human. A fool, in my opinion, is one who cannot see the errors of his own ways and continues in his foolishness. One or two foolish deeds are mistakes. Whereas, to walk in foolishness is to be a fool.

And I will say again, in Jesus' name, we are not fools! Rather, we are the righteousness of God. And we are blessed with wisdom from on High when we refuse to be provoked to foolishness by those whom we consider to be wiser than ourselves. A stone IS heavy and sand IS a burden. And provocation by the few foolish words of even the wisest ones we know IS heavier than both. But, wisdom will always lay down such a heavy burden and seek out the truth.
