I looked from heaven’s window
Far down at the earth below
I looked through layers and layers
Of skies, mountains and clouds.

I looked from heaven’s window
Felt the absence of my own
In the wind that stirred the earth
As I kept a vigil high up above.

I looked from heaven’s window
And saw myself in the red rose
That now bloomed in place of me
A reminder of my very presence.

I looked from heaven’s window
At last I spotted the ground
Searched for a familiar face
Found the one I was looking for.

I looked from heaven’s window
My spirit very much joined
With the one I loved all along
Ere before I left the earth.

I looked from heaven’s window
Slipped my hand into the hand
Of the one who missed me now
Offering a silent and invisible comfort.

I looked from heaven’s window
Longing to voice the words
Which could have been clearly heard
But, now had to speak in the other’s dream.

I looked from heaven’s window
Longed to softly touch the face
Wipe the tears from the other’s eyes
Still, did so in my own special way.

I looked from heaven’s window
Whispered against the pillow
In a soothing and caressing feel
As an angel forever on guard.

I looked from heaven’s window
Wished I had been given one day more
Before ascending into the clouds
To express my love in full measure.

I looked from heaven’s window
Now content for all times
To be with my Lord for eternity
As He takes care of my loved ones on the earth.
