Chapter 5 of Fine Line, historical fiction, is entitled Friends and Family. Fine Line is the sequel to Woodcutter’s Revival, the first novel by Jerry Slauter that was released in September of 2012. In Friends and Family, Aunt Whitney is brought in to add a women’s touch to comfort Victoria in the grieving process.

Aunt Whitney was like a mother to Victoria when she lost her own mother at a young age. She was Victoria's mother's sister, so they both shared the loss of Patricia.

In chapter 5, the reader discovers that Michael had a past and a courtship he had previously not admitted to Victoria and Stewart. Victoria insists that she is grateful to Stewart for saving Michael’s life the previous year. She also claims that he is such a considerate man and competent attorney who appears to give so much personal attention to his clients.

Michael assures Victoria that Stewart gets comfort and satisfaction from their company and considers them family since leaving his family on the farm over a year ago. Michal begins to wonder if there is more to Stewart’s motivation as he watches them greet in the scenario from the following excerpt:

Victoria said, with a warm and thoughtful expression, “He’s such a considerate man. I do appreciate all he’s done for us. He does so much more than the legal work we pay him to do.”

Victoria and Michael met Stewart in the lobby. Michael noticed each time the two greeted each other; they seemed to look a little more directly into each others' eyes. They kept their hands clasped a little longer in a handshake that was losing the appearance of a business handshake. They clasped both hands in front when neither offered a hug. Other times, one or the other offered a hug.

Fine Line is set to be released in 2014. Find a copy of Woodcutter’s Revival to read before the release. Read Fine Line and discover more about Michael’s past and the truth about Victoria’s and Stewart’s true feelings.
