Matthew 25:40 NIV “The King will reply, “I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for Me.””

As I pull up to the stop light there is a man standing in the medium; his clothes are worn and tattered, he is dirty, his hair is unkempt and he has not shaven for days. He holds a little cardboard sign that says, “Homeless Anything will help. God Bless”. I feel his wanting, needing eyes pierce through the window. Intentionally I force my eyes to stare straight ahead. I have nothing for him so I look intently forward; wanting desperately for the light to turn green. “Finally”, I shout joyfully in my mind, “the light is green”. I quickly pull into the intersection releasing the man’s glare from my heart.

The Confessions of a Goat – Jesus tells us that there is coming a day when He will separate “the sheep from the goats”. The sheep will go with Him the goats will be left behind. Sheep are those of us who feed, clothe, quench thirst, shelter, care for, and visit (verses 35, 36) the “least of these brothers of mine”. A Goat intentionally stares off into nothing, turns his head, and looks the other way from the “least” (verses 41- 43) out of fear, arrogance, pride, or evil. I am the Goat and sadly this is my confession; yes mine! All Goats pray with me, “Lord, transform me into a sheep. Teach me to love the “least”; show me how to give a smile, a prayer, money, food, or water so that I may “do this to You”. Amen”.
