Fine Line, the second in a series of three books by author Jerry Slauter, is set to be released in mid-2014. The First book of the series was Woodcutter’s Revival, released in 2012. Woodcutter’s Revival, historical fiction is set in 1905 and is the beginning of the final phase of the Industrial Revolution.
Historical fiction allows the readers to learn from the past. By comparing and contrasting our lives with the characters and events from the past we are able to see that each generation has problems and faces stresses. We also learn that the ‘good old days’ were not necessarily so good.
Woodcutter’s Revival is also a story about forgiveness and choices. We must make choices throughout life. Some choices are coupled with the luxury of being able to consider the options. Other choices are made without the ability to see the full ramifications of the choices. Either way, we must live with the consequences of the choices. Choices make life interesting and challenging. They also make interesting plot and setting for stories.
GREAT READ
DanaRae said, “Woodcutter’s Revival wasn’t at all what I expected, nor something I would have picked up in a bookstore, but the story and the writing made me glad I took a chance on the Book. Seeing the juxtaposition of the lives of the two men, how they dealt with the ‘cards they were dealt’ and how their faith, especially Stewart’s, took them forward was both engaging and inspirational. Others have outlined the plot, so I won’t go there. but the story flowed well, the characters were real and the situations they faced were an interesting and intriguing look at our history. SO BUMMED
The staunchest critic said, “I thoroughly enjoyed this book right up until the end. The ending was so fast and abrupt that it left me puzzled. It was just like the author just decided he was tired of writing and that was that. So disappointed. (MadelinDecember, Amazon Review, Two out of Five Stars, June 24, 2013)
GOOD NEWS! Woodcutter’s Revival ended abruptly because it was written to be one of a series of three books. Fine Line, the second book in the series is scheduled to be released in 2014. Watch for it on Amazon.
