The GOD of Glory (part 1)

And the Lord passed by before him, and proclaimed, The Lord! the Lord! a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in loving-kindness and truth, Keeping mercy and loving-kindness for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but Who will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and the children’s children, to the third and fourth generation - Exodus 34:6-7

The LORD our GOD is a GOD of glory. In Exodus 33, Prophet Moses asked Him to show him his way and his glory. He agreed to show Moses his glory and so in Exodus 34, the glory of the LORD passed by him. It's amazing to find out that - as the LORD passed by, the LORD himself proclaimed His very own attributes. One may begin to wonder why He did it or why He had to say that. Beloved, now listen to this if you desire to know why.
In Hebrew, glory is called "Kabod" and the very meaning is "weight". If you relate that terminology and meaning to the glory of GOD, it means that the glory of GOD has to do with weight of GOD. In other words, the glory of GOD has to do with what makes GOD what He is. His glory is linked to his important attributes that make Him who He is. In other words, His glory is His personality. And so that means that - when GOD wants to reveal his glory to a man, He would also reveal his attributes to the man.
We could see that in the case of Moses in Exodus 34:6-7, The LORD revealed seven (7) attributes of Himself to Moses as He passed by.
Now let us take a look at the seven attributes of GOD which GOD himself proclaimed to Moses.

The First - The LORD, The LORD

The Second - A GOD merciful and gracious

The Third - Slow to anger

The Fourth - Abundant in loving kindness and truth

The Fifth - Keeping Mercy and loving kindness for thousands

The Sixth - Forgiving Iniquity, transgression and sin

The Seventh - Who by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and the children’s children, to the third and fourth generation

The lesson that can be learnt from this story is that glory of GOD is linked to the weighty (heavy) attributes of GOD.

In these last days, as the church of the LORD and the saints of the LORD continue to press into the glory of GOD, it is needful to know this. May the LORD grant you more understanding in Jesus name. Selah!
