I love Hot Dogs! I know they’re not good for me but I don’t care. They taste great and they bring back good memories of my parents taking me and my brother to a local drive through hot dog joint. It was the best place in town to get a dog with chili, cheese, pickles, onions and mustard.
OMG, I loved those dogs.
A great thing about hot dogs is the vast variety of ways to prepare them.
With a little online research I found several ways to eat dogs. Here are a few worth mentioning:
- Killer Bacon-Cheese Dogs (I can’t wait to try this one.)
- Twinkie Weiner Sandwich (Dinner and dessert.)
- Left over Dog Pile (No comment.)
- Philly Cheese Steak Dog (Rocky Dog)
and
- Drag it through the Farm Dog (AKA: Road Kill Dog)
Hot Dogs are like no other food in the universe. We can eat them cold (I wouldn’t suggest it), fried, in eggs and more. We can mix and match topping and condiments like sauerkraut, ketchup, chili, mayo, fries, jalapeño’s and the list goes on. You can do more with hot dogs than you can with spam. Hot dogs are amazing.
Apparently I’m not alone in my love for hot dogs. There are several diverse types of meats and fillers that are in the “hot dog” family. All beef, chicken, turkey and veggie (yuck) to name a few and I would bet someone has made a venison dog. Hot dogs are so loved that there is even a “Hot Dog” on wheels that is likely on the road as you read this.
Two questions might be going through you mind right now like: Where’s the nearest hot dog stand or how is life like a hot dog?
I’ll try to answer the second question.
Here are a couple of comparisons:
-Hot dogs are good and messy -So it is with life.
Life can be messy with all the pressures, problems and people
in our own little world. We may get that same feeling we get
when we drop mustard on our shirt. Ugh! But do we stop eating
hot dogs when that happens? Of course not, so we must keep
living life when it gets messy. Jesus said we would have
trouble in our life and He doesn’t lie. But He also said we
over come the world because of Him. We can keep living life as
He intended us to live when it gets messy.
-Hot dogs offer us a variety of ways to prepare them.
Life offers us a variety of ways to live it. It allows us to
expand and broaden our horizon. Life has an endless supply of
possibilities for us to explore.
Here’s the bottom line. Life is good because God loves us. It gets messy at times but it can be rewarding. We’ve been given an opportunity to live a life to the full through Jesus.
So how can we start living that life? Start out small but try something different like:
- Eat a food you’ve never tried before
- Listen to a different genre of music
- Take a different route to work
- Don’t watch TV for a week (This is a toughie)
- Read a book on a subject that is new to you
- Take a college class
- Study a different culture
- Parachute
Sometimes living life to the full only requires small changes.
I challenge you to go eat a messy hot dog and try one thing different this week so you can start enjoying life as the Lord would want you too.
Andy
