Simeon and Annaa in Luke 2 v25-38 point to a company of believers alive today within whom the conviction is building and the longing is growing that thay will not die but see and receive the Return of King Jesus. They are those who are thinking on the Word and the prophecies more and more until it is crowding out other concerns. They are those who are giving themselves to unceasing, round the clock prayer and worship as a way of life, to the extent that it heightens their yearning and anticipation for the coming One, Who is finding it harder to resist their pleas and pleadings their prayers and praises, their soakings and saturations. They aren't looking desperately for an exit,  they're longing dynamically and desirously for their Lover, and there's a distinct difference. Joseph and Mary must have sensed this intensity in them. Mary who had been suffering for a sin she hadn't committed anywhere except in imaginations of her neighbors. How fitting is it that the mother of the One who would suffer undeservedly for our sins would taste first of unmerited suffering while he was yet in her womb and feeling viscerally her emotion, and have Joseph join her in the fellowship of that suffering once the angel had assured him.
