Invasion of the Resurrected

A passage that has long mystyfied me has been that one in Matthew 27 v.52&53 about the saints rising from their graves as Jesus died before descending on the holy city at his resurrection. But I'm beginning to see that those resurrected ones represent us, the company of those who are "presenting ourselves to God as those alive from the dead" as it says in Romans 6 v13. When we received Christ we went back in time, so to speak, and died with him and were buried with him before rising ourselves in Him as He rose. So we really did experience a death of who we once were and a rebirth into who we were going to be henceforth. A death to the domineering relationship with sin and a rebirth into an eternal relationship with the risen ascended Lord Jesus through whose power we would now dominate and overpower the sin in our lives, instead of being dominated and overpowered by it. There was an exciting sense of purpose and urgency about those saints invading the city and there is the same sense of purpose and urgency now about our witness, because the hour is late and there is judgement coming which in some ways has already begun, and with which so many are on a collision course. We died and yet we're alive again for a reason, to "appear" to certain ones that God has appointed for us to appear.

We must be careful to remember Who it is that leads this invasion of the the resurrected, and Who it was who led that first invasion of the holy city by His Spirit.
