HOW THE WORD CAME
==========================
A friend in my church body recently broke the little finger on his left hand. At first, I wasn’t thinking about spiritual things when this happened. I was more concerned with praying that God’s healing anointing would work a miracle for him.

It was this past Wednesday, 11-20-02 during our weekly Intercessory Prayer Meeting that the Holy Spirit began to drop some things into my spirit about the little finger of the hand being BROKEN. Thats a word we would all just as soon not hear about because we know what it means in spiritual terms for each of us. Ouch!

As so often happens, I got busy in running around to do errands, etc., that I didn’t give this a whole lot more thought. Granted, it never left my mind totally. I’d just been too busy to get before the Lord and find out what He wanted to say.

Today, as I was about my business of doing some laundry, the Lord got my attention again concerning the broken finger. A wash cloth had fallen off onto the floor. Of course, I reached down to pick it up. When I reached out to put it on the dryer, the very tip end of my little finger hit the edge of the dryer and I let out an, “Ouch” because it smarted.

At that instant, I knew what was going on because hitting the very tip end of my little fingers is not something that I ordinarily do. This was the Holy Spirit’s way of getting my attention because He had something He wanted to say. So, what do you do? You repent and then you begin praying and getting yourself in position to hear with your spirit what the Lord desires to speak.

A WORD FROM YESTERDAY:
=============================
Because the Lord mentions in this new word ‘the purity of the gospel’ which is part of a word He gave to me on Feb.8, 1997, I believe He would have me to share that particular portion of it now.

The Lord says, “Concerning the restoration, for years now, men and women in the offices of pastors, evangelists, teachers and all, have watered down My Word by apologizing for it and compromising it to tickle people’s ears to gain popularity.

But there is a call going forth for all people in these offices to get back to the purity of the gospel. To be more concerned with pleasing Me, instead of trying to please the people. The rewards of the people are empty but My rewards will endure for all eternity.

HIS PRESENT DAY WORD; PURITY & POWER OF HIS GLORY:
=========================================================
I hear the Lord saying:
“I am purifying My body this day. It is a time of purification, particularly those among My body who have been entrusted with My Word. My Word is pure truth and it must stand in its purest form, not being mixed with man’s fleshly ideas and opinions. My Word needs no additions, no dressing up or dressing down.

It is My Word, and it is pure to cleanse you from all filthiness of the spirit and the flesh. My Word is pure and will transform and change you from the inside out so that you can show forth My glory as pure lights in the earth.

Those men and women, who expound on My word, I hold more responsible because they’re speaking My word to bring faith to the hearer to believe in Me. If I be lifted up in your midst, I will draw men unto Myself. The truth you speak is to lead all men to Me.

Man has contaminated My word by speaking from impure heart motives for self-gain. But I tell you plain and simple, they are deceived to think they are on target with Me. Think it not strange that those of you who teach My word are experiencing My purifying fire in this season; for I will have My word to go out to those who desire truth, in purity and power.

In times past, I spoke and said for My ministers and leaders to get back to the purity of the gospel. Many have not heeded this call but have gone on to prostitute My word, flattering people with their notions and themselves being flattered by the people. I have been left out of the equation. But again, I send forth this call and say, speak only those words you hear My Spirit tell you to say of Me.

My children, I’ve only wanted you to be willing vessels who will allow Me to flow through you in all the fullness of My power and glory. Allow Me to fill you with the abundance of My love and adorn you with My presence. I say, many of you desire My glory but you haven’t fully surrendered your hearts to Me. You have kept Me at arms length. Know that I stand at the door of your hearts today and knock for you to allow Me entrance there. I desire to have your whole hearts so that we may co-labor together in the earth in covenant relationship.

I say to the Teachers in My body, and to all of you who speak My Word, speak it forth pure and mixed with faith. I watch over My Word, not only to perform it as I’ve promised, but to have it come forth in purity and power. I tell you, My people, that it’s a time of shaking in My Church whereby I’m shaking loose everything from your life that is not of Me. It’s a time of My Spirit shaping and molding you more into the image of Christ. It’s a time of shifting all My ministers and leaders from their old ways of doing things to My new way of getting things done efficiently and quickly.

Behold and take note this day that I’m doing a new thing in My Church and in the world. Be alert and on your watch. Everyone take your post and be watchful. See My mighty hand at work in all phases of your lives and in all phases of the world. Have you not heard it said, have you not believed that I am coming again to receive you unto Myself, that where I am, there you may be also? Be watchful and continue to be diligent in prayer for you know not the hour when I will come. I am coming, My children, and I’m coming shortly.

Heed My counsel and be not deceived yourselves and do not teach deception among the people who need and must have the truth in order to believe in Me. I desire that all people come to know Me personally for themselves. I wait to embrace them with My love for I wish for none to perish but for all to have everlasting life. I am the resurrection and the Life for all who will believe in Me. Preach and teach this truth to all people so that My Spirit can work with the word to bring them understanding and to bring them into eternal life.

I tell you as a forewarning that Satan is on a rampage, going to and fro, looking for those he can deceive with truth he steals from Me, the thief. Forearm yourselves with the sword of the Spirit against him because he twists and tangles My word into a contaminated version of what I said, then he presents it to people to make Me look like the liar instead of him. But I assure you that the devil is a liar. Therefore, believe not his lies but believe in Me; for I tell you the truth that the half hasn’t been told or seen yet of what I have planned for My Church.

Be encouraged today and get ready, My children. Allow My Word and My Spirit to prepare you, to purify you so that you can receive more of my power and glory. Even now it flows from the very throne of God to you and it is rising. Get ready and prepare for the dynamics of My manifest presence to come into your midst in more and more measures. Soon, My glory and presence will come into the midst of My body without measure.

I say yet again, for all of My ministers and leaders to get back to preaching, teaching and prophesying the purity and power of My glorious gospel.

THE HAND AND FINGERS:
===========================
It’s been demonstrated over and over how the fingers of the hand represents the five-fold ascension gifts of Jesus. The thumb--Apostle. The index finger--Prophet. The middle finger--evangelist. The ring finger---Pastor. The little finger--Teacher.

There is also the foundational gift of teaching which is different from the office of teacher, that many people have. In fact, Paul made the statement that we should all be teaching others instead of needing to be taught the very basic foundational principals again and again.

That just about covers us all to one degree or another doesn’t it? Somebody says, “But I’m not called to be a teacher!” That may very well be true but we each one teach others, if not in words, then by our behavior. By our character and the way we live. That brings this skidding right up to our front door step now ( I heard that big gulp somebody made). :-)

TEACHERS PRIMARY FUNCTION:
=================================
Allow me to give a brief over-view of a person called to the office of teacher. This is no means exhaustive. It’s merely a very grief over-view. A person called to the office of teacher is called to full time ministry. A person with the foundational gift of teaching will have a strong desire and ability to teach God’s Word in many ways.

A five-fold teacher is one who clarifies and makes plain the truth of God’s Word. The teaching office brings balance to the rest of the body of Christ. Without it, the other gifts wouldn’t operate as they should (Ezra 8:3).

COMPARING THE SPIRITUAL AND THE NATURAL:
===============================================
The Scripture the Holy Spirit quickened to me when I began praying about the woundedness of the little finger of the hand is Hosea 6:1, “Come and let us return unto the Lord: for He has torn, and He will heal us; He has smitten, and He will bind us up.”

The Hebrew word for torn is tarapb (taw-raf) and it means, “To pluck off or pull to pieces.” As soon as I saw, “to pluck off” I was reminded of how an eagle will get away to the top of a mountain and he will pluck out his feathers. He will also beat off his beak against the rock until he can’t eat. This puts him on a fast.

This is a time of renewal and rejuvenation for the eagle. Not a pleasant time but once he’s went through this season of ridding himself of the old and allowing the new to come---when he leaves the mountain, he leaves with renewed vigor and he soars off in a new power and strength. “He satisfies my mouth with good things, He renews my youth like the eagles” (Psalm 103:5).

If you’ve been praying and declaring that your youth is being renewed like the eagles, wonder no more why things seemed to have gone crazy in your life lately. I’ve been holding fast to this word in Psalm 103:5 and I’ve noticed some feather plucking going on in my own life for a while now. Praise God, I’m expecting the glory!

Actually, when you read this Scripture in Hosea and you read the prior and preceding Scriptures, you know that Hosea 6:1 is a call for repentance. Its a call for God’s people to come back to the Lord. If we, as the people of God today, have strayed any at all through avenues of sin that we’re either aware of or we’re not aware of then its a call for us to come back to the Lord in repentance.

Repentance for the body of Christ is not a one time thing, happening on the day you were born again and thats it. Repentance is an on-going, daily examining of ourselves by the Word and by allowing the Holy Spirit to show us any area of sin in our lives that we need to confess and receive cleansing for (1 John 1:9).

BROKENNESS:
======================
Regardless of whether its in the fold-fold offices of ministry or whether its within the foundational operation of the gifts, if you’re a member of the body of Christ then God is after your total heart surrender to Him.

The finger being broken, regardless of what office or ministry it represents speaks to me of God wanting true brokenness and humility to come to the hearts of His people. Too long we’ve been a people who have been bent to go our own way. For the most part, we’ve been a people who have wanted to operate within the scope of our own will and daring not to say so out loud but we’ve said quietly in our hearts “Not God‘s will but MY will be done.”

Didn’t Satan suggest to Adam and Eve that they could be their own God? Yes, he did, and he’s still making the same suggestion today and unfortunately, we’re still been falling for it. But we don’t have to continue to fall for it. We can draw that blood line in the Spirit and say, “No more am I going to be willful against God. Instead, I choose to be willing to be in agreement with Him and His way for me.”

No doubt, we’ve all been sincere when we’ve said we want God’s will for our lives instead of our‘s. No doubt we’ve meant it but the doing is where the rub comes in at. Its much easier to SAY we want to be totally sold out to God than to actually fall on the Rock to humble ourselves and allow our wills to be broken. Many of us end up with the Rock falling on us and bringing us to that point of surrender where its much more painful. But thank God for His grace and His mercy that we can depend upon. God doesn’t want to crush our spirits and do us harm. He wants to just simply crush the ’self’ part of us with His love and bring life and blessing and productivity to our lives so we can bear fruit that remains.

He wants us to know Him intimately and live in His presence on a continual basis, not just visit occasionally when you’re in trouble or in need. Sometimes, thats the way our natural children do. Many grown children (not all of them) don’t come home to visit their parents unless they’re in trouble or in need. But where else are they suppose to go? Where else are we suppose to go except right straight into the loving arms of our Papa-God, who has the remedy for everything we need at His throne of grace and mercy? If I had to sum it all up it would be this, God wants all of our hearts to belong to Him. Does that mean we’re supposed to neglect others? No, but God is to be first priority in our lives.

As the fingers of the hand must have flexibility to operate, so must we be flexible. We must be willing and ready to bend in humility, doing as we’re directed and going to carry out Kingdom business whenever and wherever the Holy Spirit says go. And within that scope, there is total freedom to love God more fully, to love others as He gave us commandment and to love ourselves as well.

Its a truth that we can’t love others as we should until we first learn to love God. We can’t even love people as we should until we first learn to see us as God does and love ourselves within that context of His perspective. God’s word comes through His love because God can’t be motivated by anything but love, and God’s love, like His Word is pure. If we’re to get back to the purity of the gospel as the Lord said, then we must also get back to the purity of love---loving one another as Jesus gave us commandment (John 15:12).
