Twelve days ago they took me to the hospital in an ambulance. "Stomach Flu" was the diagnosis. I had passed out twice that day; once at home and once again in the hospital. Third day in the hospital and the diagnosis changes - pneumonia.

I spent six days in the hospital; now I've been back home for six days and I'm still as sick as a junk yard dog and weak as a new-born kitten.

But for now, at this moment, I feel good enough to write. My wife has gone to work - leaving me surrounded with everything she thought I might need during her absence. The dogs are outside and the house is quiet. And I am settled back with my Bible, a glass of apple cider and a plate of ginger snaps.

My good wife worked hard making me homemade chicken noodle soup, homemade vegetable soup, and a meatloaf that literally melts in your mouth. And all I can stand to eat is a ginger snap.

And I ask God, why? What have I done that is so awful that You are allowing the devil to beat me up like this?


And He answers me - consider Job.

In the very first verse we are told that Job is "Blameless and upright; he fears God and shuns evil."

And I remember these very words from Proverb 3:7 - "Fear the Lord and shun evil."

I think it is absolutely amazing how God speaks to us through His word and leads us on to discover what it is He wants us to know. I've seen it so many times, and now I see it again. Because here in the very next verse of Proverb 3 there is a promise in verse 8 in connection with verse 7:

"This will bring health to your body

and nourishment to your bones."



In Malachai it says, "Trust Me in this says the Lord Almighty..."



So, God is putting it out there, isn't He?

Trust Me, He says

Obey Me

And the promise is yours.

God has promised me a healing. He says the sickness will leave and the bones will quit aching. All I have to do is quit asking why and let Him do His work.

So, I'll just keep eating ginger snaps until God tells me to go for the meatloaf.
