Colossians 1:9
9 For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ,
You have heard that "prayer is the key and faith unlocks the door", and certainly this is true. This statement provokes this thought, what have you been praying for? If prayer is the key and faith unlocks the door, why we continue to deal with so many lock doors? We have heard the saying, " little prayer, little power and much prayer much power", and again, I ask what have you been praying for? Many of us are experiencing powerless lives, sickness, poverty, lack and all types of sin and chaos is a constant occurrence in the lives of the believers and their families. Is there a power shortage due to the lack of prayer or the lack of knowledge of the things we should be praying for? In the above scripture text Paul give the believers at Colosae an example of what we should be praying for when he prays," that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding." Paul prays that the believers will be filled with the knowledge of God's will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. The bible teaches us to pray," thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven." Which simply, means that our prayers must focus on God's will being done...not our will but His will being done. Establishing God's Kingdom on earth should be a priority of our prayer life. The scriptures reminds us that God declares," my people perish for the lack of knowledge". What you don't know can kill you. Knowledge and spiritual understanding is the missing ingredient in the prayer lives of today's believers. How do I know this you may ask? The scriptures declares the Kingdom of God suffer violence and the violence take it by force...I see the violence but I do not see the believers taking the Kingdom by force. The scripture reassures us that the gates of hell shall not prevail but we must resist the devil and then he shall flee from us. We resist as Jesus resisted, he prayed without ceasing, Jesus prayed the Father's will be done, Jesus prayed with all wisdom and spiritual understanding. Next time you are praying ask God to fill you with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, then watch how your prayer life changes regarding the things you pray for. God declares," that your ways are not my ways and your thoughts are not my thoughts", that is why we need to pray to be filled with the knowledge of His will. Grace and peace be unto you.
