The castles we built
Had all the dreams of years past,
The colors, the lights,
The sparkle of the rich;

But when we looked again
Only a bubble
Held the reflection
Of what we
Thirsted after
It did not last
A moment:

Visions burst,
Colors disappeared,
Lights grew grey.

As we really were
Men seeking
Selfish ends,
Purposes
Without roots
In God,
In Love;
But goals that glorified
Each man’s comfort,
Each man’s life;
None cared

Here at last
We sit
With ourselves.

If we look
Upon such things,
The way of the world
We’d go;

But NO...
Something deeper
Holds us;
We’re anchored
Not to earth,
Not to material things,
But to Him
Who made all things

God of the Universe,
Lord of the Earth,
Sea and Sky;

That’s why
We remain
Unshaken
By the crumbling
Of decaying things;
Our Roots
Are deep in Him
