Evil is Everywhere but Where are God's Children?

Strolling through one of our local department stores, I noticed something that nearly broke my heart. As I strolled past the electronics section, including the computer programs, music and electronic games, the spiritual darkness gripped my heart. As I glanced at the rows of computer games, all I saw was spiritually dark games which focused mainly on magic, conquering or killing. I did not see any games that looked wholesome or good, let alone any that shined forth the light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
When I thought of my seven sons (five are stepsons) and my ten grandchildren that spend many hours a day on the computer, some playing games, my heart sank. Where are the games and entertainment resources for our Christian children and youth? How can they learn about the light of the Gospel by playing these dark games?
Evil forces in this world passionately and creatively express their desires for their causes and create colorful and exciting games and programs to entice people into their propaganda. They work hard and go to great expense to make their views known. Just turn on your radio or television and you can find these dark spiritual forces at work.
In contrast, I ask you, “How often do you hear a great radio broadcast or see a great television program that attracts you so much that you can’t wait to run out of the house to get Jesus? How often do you find a dynamic electronic or computer game that excites you about God’s word or God’s kingdom? How often do you see a great news program that speaks about restoring families or saving lives? How often do you hear about those people who are out in the world helping others or giving their lives for the Gospel?
People, something is wrong! Where are God’s people? Where are the children of God whom The Holy Spirit has empowered to make Christian programs for television and radio? Where are the Christian broadcasters and radio stations that have the courage to stand up for what they believe and play the Christian programming? Where are those who can make exciting tools for Biblical instruction and good Bible-based games and entertainment for our young people?
I know, as Christians, we are to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, and the Bible tells us that in the end times it’s going to continue to get increasingly dark spiritually. I also know that God has His people out there. However, it appears that evil is in the spotlight and God’s message is hidden behind the closed doors of our homes and our churches.
Have we, as Christians, let the devil keep us so bound up with hurt or some type of sin that we are no longer effective in our Christian work? Are we distracted to the point that we haven’t been producing much for the kingdom of God? Have we fallen into the great apostasy, where the Bible tells us that many will fall away from the faith? Have we become blinded to the tactics of the evil one? Or have we forgotten how awesome our God is and fear man so we don’t step out to do what God has asked of us? Or perhaps we haven’t been empowered by God for service because we refuse to believe in the divine power of God’s Holy Spirit? Or are we so flooded with persecution, temptations and trials that we focus more on these than we do on God?
Whatever the cause of our disappearance, we must remember that God is bigger than our adversary and all of his allies. We must not let Satan or dark spiritual forces keep us bound in fear so we’re afraid to step out for God. We must trust God to take care of us and let Him use us in these evil times! As Nehemiah once said, “(…) do not be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, great and awesome, and fight for your brethren, your sons, your daughters, your wives and your houses.” (Nehemiah 4:14) NKJV
