Do you know that Christianity affects all areas of our lives, including our outward appearance? God¡¯s Word says that we are not of the world though we are in it. This means that God expects to be separate from the World in whatever we do because we are not part of them. We can deduce from this that in whatever we do, we must make a difference from the world.
Therefore, when we dress we must draw a line between the World¡¯s dressing and the Christian dressing. Christian dressing must portray Christ in us and must bring Him glory.
So when you open that wardrobe; when you are about to pick out that outfit what exactly should you put in your mind. Ask yourselves these questions:
Am I portraying Christ in this outfit?
Is there any item on me that contradicts anything written in the Bible?
Am I doing this to please the flesh or God¡¯s spirit in me?
Is my outfit a source of sin for someone else?
Does my outfit glorify my Lord?
If Jesus should pick out an outfit, would he pick this one? And Why?
When these questions have been answered, let me tell you what will happen. Asking the first question makes sure that you are carrying the light of Jesus in whatever you do. It means you are standing up for Him even in your dressing. The next question ensures that you are in tune with God¡¯s commandments and His will. It guarantees that you are basing your actions on God¡¯s Word which is what He wants. The Third question makes certain that we are not working under our sinful nature; flesh that never pleases God instead we are working under Christ¡¯s nature in us that does God¡¯s will. The fourth question confirms that we are not bringing about other fall like Paul warned us against. As Christians, we are not to bring sin and darkness to others instead Life and Light. So if we are a source of sin then we are not being Christians that Glorify God. The fifth question verifies that we desire to glorify God. It gives us the assurance that God is pleased with us. The last question reassures us that we are letting the Life of Christ in us reflect in our deeds and actions.
When you open that Wardrobe, pick out that outfit that gives Jesus the Lordship in your Life. Dress for His Glory.
