You believe in God, but have been stuck. Issues always seem to come up. Things you have dealt with in the past…and thought were a done deal…and here they are again! Two steps forward and twenty back! Here we go again! Right?

Don’t be afraid of breaking the barriers. Don’t be afraid of seeking the God of the Universe;
the God who loves you above all else.

God says in Jeremiah 29:11-13
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me,
and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

Our fears do not come from God; but from the enemy. We are listening to the wrong voices. We have what I call “old tapes” in our heads; that negative self talk that we have listened to for so long that it seems normal and comforting in a strange way. But God wants us to listen to HIS voice.

I have been working through some generational issues for a very long time. Recently, I had a huge break through. I was in a Beth Moore Bible study on the book of James and on Day 2 of Week 2 Beth asked us to read James 1:5 and Matthew 7:7-8. As I was writing these verses in my workbook: "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks the door will be opened." just as I got to these words at the end of verse 8, "the door will be opened" - my pen ran out of ink! It was as if God was showing me not only has He opened the door but the door is gone! Vanished - just as the ink! The barriers are gone! ALL OF THEM! What a visual!

Do you want to seek Him? Do you want to follow Him? Do you want to break down those barriers that are holding you back? Take what faith you have and all your doubts. Just talk to God. Take refuge in him. Psalm 34:8 says, “Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him.”

Jesus has broken the barriers. Jesus did it all! It’s a done deal. Like the dry ink pen. The barriers are gone! We are the ones who keep them in our heads and hold ourselves back. For most of us this is a process, kind of like peeling an onion – one layer at a time. And sometimes we need help to work through this. I would encourage you to seek the help of your pastor, counselor, mentor or good friend who can help you.

Don’t be afraid of breaking the barriers. Don’t be afraid of seeking the God of the Universe; the God who loves you above all else.
