Nine eleven brings sad memories of a shocking attack. The haunting memories of 9/11 terrorist attack, that occurred twelve years ago, are still torturing the world. Is the world free from such attacks that are hanging over the head of everyone as the sword of Damocles.

Even after 12 years

Even after twelve years the world is not yet free from the shock of such terrorist attacks. Rather, it is threatened more by terrorism and fear of wars. The late American president John F. Kennedy compared the omnipresent threat of nuclear annihilation to the sword of Damocles hanging over the people of the world.

A call that echoed in America 120 years ago

The world might have forgotten the call that echoed exactly 120 years ago in 1893, on this day 11 September, on this American soil. Swami Vivekanada, a Hindu sage from India, called the world for the new concept of "Universal Brotherhood", only which can save the world from the tyranny of terrorism and other threats.

At the World Parliament of Religions held in Chicago, Swami Vivekananda spoke about humanity’s history of violence and his hopes for its end by his call for a "universal brotherhood". He indicated that sectarianism, bigotry, and its horrible descendant, fanaticism, have long possessed this beautiful earth and pointed out how they have filled the earth with violence, drenched it often and often with human blood, destroyed civilization and sent whole nations to despair. He also mentioned that had it not been for these horrible demons, human society would have been far more advanced than it is now.

Swami Vivekananda's message of the 1800's for a fraternal life of love is as timely and fitting reminder now, even in the 2000's. It is high time for the world to follow a path of both tolerance and universal acceptance.

Nine Eleven of 12 and 120 years ago should make humanity think
It is high time for the whole humanity to view these events of 9/11 positively and find real solutions for an amicable and peaceful life. Of course, it is difficult. But if minds are focused towards peace, it can be achieved. Otherwise, it is certain that there will be more bloodshed, more loss, and the whole earth may become a complete graveyard.
