We are a complex species, inundated with new hardware on a continual basis, programmed by the world system through media and entertainment. We're plagued by the uploaded virus of selfishness and as a result live an existence of greed and envy. It's a sad state we as man are found in, primarily due to the fact that a power greater than us has governed our actions, manipulated our thoughts, indoctrinated our beliefs, and ascertained our identity. We remain mindless puppets controlled by the world, foolishly believing we are free while in actuality we ourselves have submitted to the puppeteer's reign.

A free man would never choose to become a slave unless they loved their master and were content with the food from his plate. They would submit themselves to his bondage and satisfy his demands, perhaps only if they were appeased by something that could not be found apart from slavery. In America we profess that freedom is of most importance to us- this freedom is said to be what separates us from other peoples and nations. This idea of freedom, however (in context to the ability to choice what we believe in and to live as we desire), is nothing more than a farce, a pretense of a wisp of the imagination derived from nothing more than cultural indoctrination. Since the time of our conception we are destined to be carried along in the unavoidable current of consumerism, competition, and ambition. Structures far greater than ourselves have already determined what is best suited for us to believe in and value. Our choices are marred by the “systems” advertisements and hidden propaganda that narrows our ability to choice lifestyles apart from a conformed and acceptable dogma already laid in place as inevitable. As a result we become slaves, ignorant slaves content to remain submissive to our master because we enjoy the pleasures of the kingdom he rules better than the denial and lack we will know outside of his dominion. We enjoy the current of consumerism; we find our identity in commodities; we fancy the rush of ambition. It's easier to remain simple-minded and blind than to think for ourselves and to rationalize. We hate being outsiders and would rather fit in than be cast out; we enjoy the glory of lording ourselves over others and find great esteem in our wealth and our money. We choose to be enslaved to the culture we live in rather than rise up and rebel against it. Humility, poverty, gentleness, and selfishness are characteristics found outside the world system; they are unpleasant and far from desirable. Freedom is an option presentable to every man, but freedom is not something pursued for its cost is too great a price.

There can be no help for humanity if humanity does not wish to be freed. We would rather remain enslaved to an oppressive and bloodthirsty king than die to this world and give up the commodities and glory we might obtain in it. We are bound not so much by sin as we are to self. Sin is easily cleansed by repentance, but it is self that necessitates crucifixion. Jesus already bled for our iniquities, but death to self is an act that is required to be enacted daily. It's easy for us to cry out to Jesus to forgive our wrongs when we face the reality of hell, but for some reason we seem to think we can continue to live for self as though hell were not made for the selfish. We want deliverance from the guilt of sin and the wages of death, but we do not desire freedom from the enslavement of the world or the Babylonian culture we're plugged into. We as a creature remain in constant pursuit of preserving our life, not in following Christ.
