“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” Psalm 23:4
We were driving home from market the other day and the skies were clear and blue, it was beautiful. As we got closer to home dark skies loomed with notorious, swirling clouds seemingly waiting for us to enter in. It was hypnotizing as they drew us nearer and nearer. We couldn’t turn around or go in a different direction… home and the children were ahead… in the storm clouds.
As we drove on I thought how life is like that. We’re on a path moving forward into an impeding storm, we see it coming. All around is clear, yet we keep moving forward into the gloom. Suddenly we can’t see that blue sky any longer. There’s only blasting rain and wind, darkness surrounding us… tears and fear can envelope us there. Where did the blue skies and sunshine go? How long must we travel this path?
We fully realize that this is a necessary step, there’s no way around it. These valleys that we trudge through don’t have to be a time of aloneness… We can have Jesus by our side, sheltering us from the storm. He’s willing to go with us, leading and guiding when all else sees hopeless.
Believing that the blue is still beyond is where faith comes into play. That once we come through this shadow of death, we again will rejoice praising the Lord for the storm.
It takes faith to believe that they are just beyond the darkness… Jesus is the light that will lead us through the trials and those storms. Won’t you trust Him today?
“Heavenly Father, I pray that whoever may be facing the storm clouds in life today, they may find peace in the darkness with You by their side. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”
Until next time,
Jean
