Sunday 8/4/13 Minister Paulus sermon Get There –A Place of Obedience Genesis 19:21-22

To Obey God is Better than Sacrifice I Samuel 15:22.
Disobedience is like rebellion, a sin against God. Disobedience is like witchcraft! Iniquity is a sin that you know is a sin, but you do it anyway. Obedience should be a lifestyle, not just something you do, just to do. In any council, board or group there is usually one who is in charge that gives orders and others do them. Obedience is very important to God. There is a solid place of obedience that we must reside in to get blessings from God.

1) Wavering Obedience:
This has no substance, no power. The angels told Lot to leave the city of Sodom and he told his son-in laws. They didn’t believe him or do it.

2) Forced Obedience:
When faced with a decision to do the right thing, we do it when there is no other way. A mother whips her son who acted up in school and he doesn’t do it again. Her whipping forced him to be obedient and not act up in school. Forced obedience shows a weak relationship with God. Obedience is something that most of us are not born with. It grows in us. The first thing to obedience is to trust the one we are obeying. Trust God!

3) Place of Obedience:
God will provide a place of escape for us before he punishes the wicked. God moves quickly to shelter us when we don’t have total obedience in our life. God wants us to know that He can do it all. He wants us to follow him like a horse with blinders on. We just follow God. When destruction is happening all around us, God will instruct us to a place of safety. God will destroy what is coming against us!

** Total Obedience Gets Us To:

1) KNOW …the voice of God
2) HEAR …the commandment of God
3) CARRY OUT …God’s order

Hebrews 5:8-9 Though He were a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered. And being made perfect, He became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him.
Jesus was a Son but He learned obedience. We need to re-arrange stuff in our lives. We need God to work a miracle in our life, get a financial break thru in our life. TOTAL Obedience is what we need! We don’t need the blatant disobedience like Lot’s wife had when she looked back and turned into a pillar of salt. We need to have obedience to God and to have NO problem with trusting and obeying God. Trust God and He will do MORE than we can do for ourselves!
Trust God! Obey God! Trust God!
