I am thankful Father for the wonderful gift of writing. I am thankful that You have blessed me with creativity and the ability to convey it through language. I am thankful that You give me the strength to persevere through many tireless hours of planning, jotting down ideas, writing drafts, proofreading and editing. I am especially thankful for the delight I receive after all the hard work. Those moments when I am able to express and share the thoughts and ideas You have placed on my heart with others through a unique piece of writing. Indeed I am thankful for the many opportunities You give me to encourage and inspire other people through my gift.
Father, I pray that You will always encourage me to persevere in my writing. There are some days when my work is rejected by others or I become self-conscious and discouraged by criticism. During these times I simply feel like giving up. Help me to be patient when I am learning from my mistakes and teach me to accept the good advice of others. Help me to remember that You have blessed me with a special gift and that You desire for me to share it with others, no matter how many times I fail along the way. Even though there are times when I grow weary from writing or I simply run out of ideas, always remind me to turn to You so that You can strengthen me and be my source of inspiration.
I also pray Father that You will teach me to remain humble in regards to my writing, no matter how much success I may receive through using my gift. Help me not to become complacent with my writing achievements or the compliments of other people. Instead remind me always that it was You who taught me how to write and that without You I can do nothing. Remind me to always write with the right motivations. I should seek first to glorify Your name and to serve others through my gift, rather than aim for personal gain or recognition. Teach me to always give You thanks for my writing success, and to acknowledge to other people that You are always helping me in all my endeavors. None of my work is ever done by my own strength.
I pray Father that You will also give me guidance and wisdom in my writing. Teach me to take responsibility for the things I write about and to consider how my writing will affect the readers. Help me to only write what is pleasing to You, regardless of whether or not it is appealing to other people. Teach me to write honestly Father so that I do not take the ideas and work of other writers without properly acknowledging them. Finally Father I pray that You will always help me to offer You my best through writing in order to advance Your greater plan in the world.
