Through the midnight hours still and quiet
ran tears of unseen eyes
Pillows soaked and stained with drops
flowing constantly as days go by
Leaving traces caused by hurts and pains
seemly to linger, there forever more
Where is the comfort the heart wants to know
as the tears did pour and pour
Did such a loving God hear the cries
has he felt the wounds we did carry
Will he plead the cause of the torn up heart
can he but speed the help and not tarry
Before one tear can dry away
there are more that's hidden inside
When will it end, the quiet heart does wonder
and when will they ever subside
But the tears are counted, O' precious one's
even while through the darkest night
Not a drop has been missed by an all knowing God
and he will make everything all right
He will wipe away the traces of tears
and plant a flower on your pillow each day
Then his joy will fill you through and through
and no more tears, he'll wash them all away
