Genesis 39:7-13 gives an account of a time when Joseph was faced with temptation. Joseph, who was very handsome, was alone with his master's wife. When she asked him to lay with her, he refused and responded by saying, "...How then could I do this great evil, and sin against God?" (verse 9) She asked him a second time, and again Joseph refused. This time he fled and ran outside to get away from the whole situation. (verse 12)

In contrast to this is a story in II Samuel 11:1-4. David, who should have been out fighting with his men, had a lot of idle time on his hands. From the roof of the king's house he saw a very beautiful woman bathing. He gave in to the temptation and committed adultery with her, which led to more problems.

Don't allow your life to be be filled with problems due to adultery or other sins of immorality. Seek God's mission for your life and focus on that. Joseph knew what God's purpose was for his life and he wasn't about to let an immoral act get in the way. On the other hand, if David had not neglected his mission, he would not have been in a compromising position.

Young men, are you going to be a Joseph or a David? I hope and pray that you will choose to be a Joseph?
