I dreamt of holding a tiny girl,
cuddly soft in a brand new world.
Cheeks pale pink and ears so small,
a turned up nose. I kissed them all.

I dreamt of a little girl singing a song,
dancing, whirling, and skipping along.
Imaginary raindrops she plucked from the air,
and wiped on her face, so young and fair.

I dreamt she loved puppies and kittens too,
and around her house it resembled a zoo.
We gave a tea party, just her and me,
with heart shaped cakes and sugary tea.

I dreamt of the little girl growing tall,
full of life’s dreams, big and small.
She carried herself with grace and poise,
and filled her life with wonders and joys.

I dreamt of a granddaughter, almost grown,
making plans to be on her own.
She trusted the Lord to show her the way,
resting in Him from day to day.

And you know what!? My dream came true!
Because those dreams of a granddaughter
were all about you!
