The Gift

This second hand gift is from Christmas Past,
back when most toys were made to last.

Santa was real in those days and time,
for a happy, small boy, whose eyes did shine.

He gave Mom his list of toys, trinkets, and more,
to airmail to Santa at the North Pole store.

Trains, planes, and automobiles,
were on the list for Santa to fill.

This gift from Santa was a wish come true,
for this little boy by the name of Drew.

The joy in his heart and the smile on his face,
were memories that Santa would never replace.

The gift and the boy spent hours of play,
constant companions by night and day.

The years went by and the boy was grown,
the gift in the closet was on its own.

As life continued with its onward pace,
the gift found its way to a storage place.

Christmastime came and Christmastime went,
many long years unbelievingly spent.

But now the gift finds its way back to the boy,
who cherished and loved this quite special toy.

The two are together, finally, at last,
the boy and the toy from Christmas Past.
