God is not a man, that He should lie; neither the son of man, that He should repent, hath He said and shall He not do it? Or hath He spoken and shall He not make it good? Numbers 23;19
For ever, O Lord thy word is settled in heaven. Thy faithfulness is unto all generation. Thy word is true from the beginning. Psalm 119:89
God’s promises are abundant in the scripture. Some promises are general for every believer to claim, while some are customized, it is peculiar to some people as a result of their walk with and faith in God. No matter how long, His promise will definitely be fulfilled. Though Speed is an advertisement gimmick in this our age, but patience is a necessity in processing the promise of God. God will never owe any man. He has never and you will not be the first. He will fulfill all the promises He has made; just get along in the living faith and this faith requires patience in necessary instances and the fulfillment of the conditions to receiving the blessings.
If you jump the border, you may abort the process or prolong the journey. Don’t be distracted while you wait for the fulfillment of this promise. No matter how long the process may seem to be, the fulfillment will come and in his wisdom, there is a means to get you all the things you think you have lost, while you wait for the fulfillment of the promise. While you wait, you’ll learn a lot, get grace and power. You will ever be grateful for the wisdom, blessing, values and other benefits that will be added to your life by the process of his promise. I urge you to wait and do wait in his wisdom for the fulfillment of his promise, he will never fail you.
At certain moment the Lord told moses “I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before thee and will be gracious to whom I shall be gracious, and I will show mercy. Exodus 33:19.establishing the certainty with which God speak his words. God’s promises are His words on what He will do for us as a result of a condition or conditions we are expected to fulfill by or on our behalf. God’s promises are the positive pronouncement or pronouncement with the inspiration of love and admiration or deliberate intension made known with hundred percent certainties to change someone’s status or situation positively irrespective of the prevalent circumstance. Promises are expected to be based on capacity to fulfill such pronouncement when due. God is capable of greatness, miracles, wonders and surprises. He created all things and has not forgotten how He made them and what each of his creatures’ compositions is. He has the power to recreate and redirect the course since He is the originator of all of these. However, He will not give you promises contrary to His words. He is consistent and orderly.
We are in the age where we want all things instant: many things are possible on that fast lane: we have the technology to handle such now. Indeed, it is to our advantage, we can get to places fast, assess information fast and catch money fast and do quite dozen of things fast. We can assess the promises of the scripture also very fast because the recent technology has made it possible to read the Bible while on the run, which was not that easy in the generation past. It is the prophecy about the last days; knowledge shall be on the increase.
Many in our generation have exploited the desire of majority of people who want things fast with deception. Probably this has increased the level of doubt of many and we think God is of the same attitude deceiving people, God forbid. If we have not received the promise of God as some do claim, then it may be because of the following:
Our Doubts can hinder the speed and the process of promise. Faith is a prerequisite for receiving
from the Lord. Our doubt may be as result of deception that flies about and we find it difficult to
trust God for His words. James said it is a very difficult thing for a doubter to receive answers to
prayers. In some cases, we may have labelled those promises too cheap to conceive and believe!
Ignorance in understanding what God says about some issues may flame our impatience, for this
we may not appropriate the promise of God in the light of the scripture. All God’s promise has
one or more conditions to fulfill before it can be yours. You may need time and patience for the
promises to be well processed, and we may not be willing to wait for this haste, we may set up an
alternative to patronize, you are already crossing the way of God in the process.
There are general promises, everyone in the kingdom is qualified to claim and use them. Once you have identified with the kingdom, then you are entitled to receive what belongs to the children of the kingdom. The qualification of becoming a child of God and member of the kingdom is very important. Then you are entitled to get access to the heavenly blessing, if you know your right in the kingdom. However, some people can act like the prodigal son’s elder brother, who acted ignorantly and will not use what the father had and made. He came accusing the same wasted on his spend thrift brother who repented and by such act got qualified for the blessing once again. There are promises that have to do with our personal worship of God, walk with him and work for him. In this ways of worship, walk and work, we can get God excited and impressed and He’ll make some pronouncements, they are covenants. It does not matter the situation, those words have received the enabling power that went into process in the beginning of creation. Such enabling power create, call out, conditions, conduct and control all that is in the intension of God in those promises and it does not matter how long, they are valid.
I know a man, He was unemployed for some time. He got a very small job where what they paid him was so small, it was the tithe of some other people. He had learnt how to give his tithe, but The Lord requested He give 20% of this money to a particular work God sent him. He did. Later God asked again, that He give 50% to the work and still have to pay 10% tithe to the church. He did. Then in one of his praying moment, the Lord told him, Son, You will never be broke as long as you live. The way we handle our worship to God, our walk with Him and Work for him can get God excited and He will lavish heaven’s resources upon us. Such promises are customized. Not every one called saints will enjoy that and even if everyone had to, heaven has what it takes to handle all. Our Righteous acts, commitment and labour can thrill God and get us blessed beyond the general blessings for saints as reflected in Genesis 22.
Abraham’s walk thrilled God, the man will not spare his son, Isaac to please the God that has placed great demand on him. God called heaven and earth to witness and swore by his Throne since there was none greater and blessed him. Many by their acts of obedience, uncommon consecration, faithfulness and commitment got God inspired to brand them with uncommon blessing in addition to general promises. God could not keep Enoch on earth and witnessed death because he impressed God, he was translated.
Knowing this that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that you may be perfect and entire wanting nothing. James 1:3-4.“ For you have need of patience, so that after you have done the will of God ye might receive the
God may give you wonderful promises, there are processes and procedures for the fulfillment of these promises, please do not abort these processes. God do give promises as well as prophecies. “God said unto Noah, the end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and behold, I will destroy them with the earth. Gen 6:13 Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he. Gen 6:22.
Noah may have expected this commence immediately, such is always in our zeal. But in God’s wisdom, there was going to be time to build the ark of salvation to preserve people in the time of the flood, coupled with the need to warn people against the coming doom. The process of preparation will take time. This will sound the warning loud and clear. God made opportunities available for repentance and mercy is a great solicitor that seeks for repentance in the midst of prophesies of doom. It will take patience to get people repented. God’s love and mercy will not be in haste, He must accommodate repentance. If it was possible and all men change their ways as did by the people of Nineveh, God may change his mind, to accommodate this. Also, he must justify His action, and this will require patience.
I am very sure, Noah would have confronted God at times and say “ I am done when is the flood coming”. Old and young men of his generation may have accused and abused him, But all God wanted in his patience was repentance and when He was done, No one’s plea could get him stopped. The flood was so much that it took about a year to get it dried. God is not slack about his promise, though He may tarry, wait for him, it will surely come. If this generation thinks the ever proclaimed coming of our Lord tarries and may not really be true, the patience of God is in action and quite many things must be done to justify the act of necessity Christ coming will usher into life on earth here and in eternity.
When God promised Abraham Terah a son, Isaac and the possession of the land of Canaan, it took God processes to fulfill a credible and long lasting inheritance to the seed of the Abraham. Isaac was not born until 25 years later, why? And the land was not given until several hundred years after Abraham’s death. Why? In the process, Abraham had to learn a couple of things before the promised seed and the Promised Land.
Why not instantly accomplished? Once God had said it, then, the issue is a concluded matter. However, manifestation may take years; the promise to Abraham Terah was going to take years. More than 25 years for Isaac and several hundred years for his seeds to occupy those lands but in the process of this fulfillment, Abraham Terah was to learn a lot about the faithfulness of God.
God promises create platform and opportunity to deal, relate and receive from God. It is a very wonderful parameter to measure the faithfulness of God. On the basis of those promises, was the deal of Abraham service, however, it afforded him to learn the ways, worship and walk with this God . he had to learn how to trust God and His promises in all situations and all circumstances, even when all things happening at the moment are in contrary to the promises and the prophesies, how to patiently walk with God with enduring endurance, how to prayerfully relate with God who gives and fulfills promises , how to render services to God in spite of his despite, fulfilling purpose no matter what. His faith and faithfulness to God in all situations were to be tested and approved. he nature, the prospect and principles of carrying God’s covenants and how to pass it across to his seeds were to be learnt.
Indeed, the man Abraham learnt so many lessons. Shortly, after the pronouncement of the promises and the subsequent fulfillment, Abraham had to learn so many other lessons.
Apart from that, Abraham’s household was just too small, even his warrior were just 318 and the land will be too much for them to manage if it was given then. So he had to wait.
God had to increase him so that he will be able to manage the land when eventually given to his seeds. In Gen 14:14 If he was to conquer the land of Canaan. Do you think he will be able to handle the expanse with 318 solders? As a loving and caring father will not give grenades to his kids even though he is a solder, likewise God do consider most time the appropriate time for the handing over of fulfillment to the said promises
In Gen 15:13-15 the Lord confronted him with yet another plan in the process of fulfilling the promise“ … know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs and shall serve them and they shall afflict them four hundred years; also that nation whom they shall serve will I judge and afterward shall they come out with great substance and thou shalt go to thy father in peace and then shall be buried in good old age but in the fourth generation they shall come hither again for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full. Can you imagine! God had to justify the reason why those inhabitants of the land must be displaced or destroyed; He made provisions for repentance in the midst of declaration for destruction. He is a just God. In Deuteronomy 7:22 “and the Lord thy God will put out those nations before thee by little and little: thou mayest not consume them at once, lest the beasts of the field increase upon thee.” God did that to prevent any form of harassment and wild animals at that moment or in the future.
When David was anointed king, God had to take him through some situations and circumstances before he ascended the throne at age thirty. There is the process for every promise of God; this cannot be mathematically modeled. God allows your dreams and visions to pass through processes and training, if they must become the worth of blessing to your generation. For Christ to realize the fulfillment of the promise God gave to Abraham in Gen 12 1-3, time and processes were necessary: suffering, death and resurrection were inevitable for Christ to achieve this.
“In thee shall all the families of the earth be blessed “. It required such a great torment and suffering, the burden of the cross. The fulfillment of this required Him to come in form of a man “son of man” lived and learned the trade of man for thirty years before the ministry, and for the space of three and half years, he preached, taught and healed many and lastly was tortured, crucified on the cross, bled, died and resurrected; fulfillment necessitated the trip to Calvary and it was a difficult process but Christ fulfilled that for all.
Can you imagine His pains and sorrow while at Gethsemane Where he rehearsed the suffering, sorrow, torment and anguish He was to bear in order to fulfill the promise? You know devil made several attempts from the day of Christ’s birth till the time He was hung on the cross just to abort the process of fulfilling this wonderful promise that brought the whole world into the blessing of God. But praise to our God, for He worked to fulfill the process and we have today the blessing of redemption. I am not afraid of any threat given to the kingdom of Christ, there is the process and the executor cannot fail in fulfilling the dream and vision just as the promises of redemption was then accomplished.
Indeed, Joseph had dreams, they were great. But do you think he was competent to handle that feat at that moment? I do not think so. Between the conception of dream and the fulfillment, there is a space in time. And it depends on God’s discretion and purpose in that dream. There are things to learn along the process, there are understandings to have, there are visions and revelations to have along the way. All these together will aid your right functioning when due.
Joseph did not have the right insight into dreams’ interpretation and solution when he started dreaming. What the whole world in the future will need, he had to learn that.
You are very prominent and important in the stage of God’s fulfillment, there are some things to learn, there are some instructions to heed and carry out. There are some revelations and visions to understand and there are some dreams and solution to conceive. That is why God is a miracle-working God and not a magician.
In our generation we find it very difficult to plod the road of patience, yet this road is a must for every one that ever will have a great promise to claim from God. The duration for fulfillment with respect to a specific promise, differs, but one truth we must get committed into our concept and faith is that, patience is a necessary processor of our various promises, we have to claim from the LORD. Our God will never be impulsive with his promises, though he can be impressed; once these promises are uttered they are backed up with a decrees that cannot be changed. "For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he swore by himself saying surely in blessing I will bless thee. and multiplying I will multiply thee. and so after he had patiently endured he obtained the promise Heb 6:13
God’s promises and instructions are beyond you. It is very mean for God to bless you and take you to your destination but his promises in most cases are beyond all these menial issue of blessing and prosperity for one single person. In the process, before , at and after the fulfillment, you may have the blessing that is embedded in the promise and covenant and instruction God gives, they are intertwined in his purpose and are connected somehow to generation of people of God , His kingdom, his people, other people apart from you are involved . His promise is beyond you. For this reason, God had to lay the foundation and direct a formidable structure that will accommodate His intension in all that must be involved.
God promises, covenants and instructions are beyond your scope, you are only involved, it is a privilege, do not terminate the process because it may affect the future of an organization, family, church and generation. You cannot afford to terminate all these blessings of others because of disobedience and Impatience.
.
Though faith must be accomplished by patience, it does not mean inactiveness. Faith and Patience does not mean idleness. While Abraham was waiting for the promised child through whom the Promised Land was to be given, he was not idle in worship to God, walk with God and Work for Him neither was he slack in making necessary provision for his household. He was rich in cattle, silver and gold Gen 13 :2. He went about necessary journey in life. Faith, Patience and obedience does not mean you stand idle and attend to nothing. It only means you have submission to God to organize your life in accordance to his blue print.
