May 12, 2013 (Mother’s Day)
Dear Father,

This morning I have learned a great truth, and I thank you for it. I have neglected the study of the Old Testament, and a great hunk of truth very necessary to understanding and obeying the lessons of the New Testament. Once again you have been kind enough to have one of your children hit me over the head with it so resoundingly that I will never again neglect the early part of Your Holy Word. I humbly thank You for giving me another chance albeit time may be limited. Help me to read and understand with great clarity what I have neglected for so long.

Just as I wrote the last sentence, a mocking bird flew past the window, gave me a quizzical look and flew to the nearest tree. I hope and pray that by not studying the Old Testament for so long that I have not mocked Your Holy Word. If so, dear Father, please forgive my short-sightedness and erase it. I so want and beg for the holiness, happiness and humility that being near to Jesus bring.
Bless your faithful servants that find and share these deep truths with us who are sometimes blind to them. Give me, please, a deep understanding of every word, every phrase, every meaning of Your Holy Word. Don’t let me get away without understanding every nuance of the Scriptures, I beg you. My mind is aging and failing, but please never let it be in the area of Your precious Word.

Dear Father, my humble prayer this morning is that You will forgive my foolish waywardness in the study of Your Word, every Word! Give my mind the clarity and understanding to know and to share every syllable of it so I can not only live by it, but share it honestly and completely with those who will listen, I beg in the sweet name of Jesus. Please, dear Holy Spirit, guide me into all truth. Don’t let me get away without understanding every nuance of the Holy Writ. Your weak and careless child humbly begs Your forgiveness and help in this. In Jesus Name, Amen
