TO ALL MOTHERS

To all mothers around the world I wish you a happy MOTHER’S DAY. Mothers are close to God because they keep replenishing the earth to keep the Human race from getting wiped off the face of mother earth. I was a small boy and my mother took good care of me, bathed me, and fed me until I became a big boy. She fended for me and defended me even though I was so tiny and looked helpless but her unwavering love saw a mighty man of valour, a defender of nations.

I could not take care of myself but she did. When I was sick I cried and she spent sleepless nights comforting me in her warm hands. She seemed to know what was ailing me while I didn’t know what it was. People scolded me and told me I will never amount to anything but she saw a man with the heart of a lion. She gave me a reason to see our house as home; and I would come battered and tired from the playing grounds but was met with a warm smile and warm water to bath. When I was naughty she caned me and I still ran and cried in her arms. She was all my hope; she was my heroine and my shelter, my mother.

As an adolescent I thought I knew it all and out of love she told me “Son don’t do drugs, don’t smoke weed, and don’t run after girls because these things will rob you of the opportunity of being a good father”, I listened. I saw her waking up early to pound sorghum or going to gather fire wood and she told us “The reason why I work so hard is because I have you kids and I don’t want you to lack nothing”- what a good mother! Today my mother has run out of strength and she looks up to me, “Mother I am ready to turn the favour to you, don’t worry I am your son and you are in good hands”. To every mother I want to say, you are the greatest mother in the world.

Today I am a grown up man with my own wife and kids but I am present for my family; when my wife tells our kids don’t do drugs I tell them do your homework and when she makes them ready for Sunday school I make them breakfast and tell them “Jesus loves you; do your best to become good boys and good girls”. I am a grown up man just because of my mother.

Mothers you are special and we cannot match you. Jesus loves you and us as your boys love you too. Celebrating a mother is celebrating all humanity. On behalf of every man I say HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!
