Sometimes a heart sheds bitter tears
In reaching out to be...SEEN.
To be HEARD,
To be TOUCHED
or.....
To be LOVED.....
To HAVE the feeling....to HOLD the feeling
That SOMEONE cares.
That caring goes BEYOND....
Beyond one's ability and willingness ....
To provide and give
The 'things' to which time, society and availability
Have made us materially accustomed to ....and dependent upon.

If I could choose one Earthly companion
To lift me when I've fallen
To smile at me....when the rays from a sunny face
Seem to avoid me.....
It would be someone for who I have
DONE NOTHING! Except...
to provide an ear
When a listener was NEEDED;
Contribute to conversation when communication
With someone; WITH ANYONE....was so vital.....
To soothe the heart and pacify
A TROUBLED mind.

And if I could choose that part of existence....
That quality of feeling one human can have for another;
I would NOT choose to be LOVED....as love
Is often possessive, selfish and demanding.
I would not elect to be respected....
As respect is often misplaced and undeserved.

It would be good...simply to be
REMEMBERED
