Bill says that he meant nothing derogatory by using "Bible Thumpers." Bible Believers is a better terminology, and surely he knows that. I have always known that when someone calls me a Bible Thumper that they don't intend to compliment my intelligence.

Oh well. Here is my loosely poetic expression about this terminology; I wrote it well before Billy's Blunder.


A Bible Thumpin’ Christian
that is what I am,
and for being one
I don’t say, “'cuze me man.”
I don’t stand aside
and myself try to hide.
You see, there is sumpthin’
I’ve come to realize…
everyone is thumpin sumpthin’.

Some are thumpin’ philosophy,
some are thumpin’ astrology,
some are pounding psychology,
others thump the thoughts of New Age,
some pound the streets in violent rage,
some are thumpin’ nothin,’ so they say,
calling themselves "the atheist intelligency."
Everyone is thumpin’ sumpthin’.

So why, I have to ask,
does my Bible Thumpin’
give you cause to slander me?
‘Cause what I thump has a history
of prophesy with acute accuracy
and facts found in hidden archeology.
A Christian Bible Thumper? That is me!
So tell me, Whachu thumpin’?
‘Cause everyone is thumpin’ sumpthin’.
