Jeremiah 33:3--Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.

Sometimes it is hard to distinguish what the answer to prayer was. It is possible to have an answer right away, but not usually. We know when we put something in God's hands, He will answer. He is in control and will answer everything in His own way and timing. Lay aside our willfulness and worry, and determine to obey Him. We know God could take care of our needs without our asking; but when we ask, we are acknowledging that He alone is God and that we know we cannot accomplish the feat in our own strength. It is humbling when we have to ask God for something because we can't do it alone because we like to be independent. This could be about pride if we don't include Him--watch out! He will answer us beyond what we expect.

After some time, we wonder if He is going to answer when He already has--He said, "No." We will know because nothing worked out or gave us any peace about the question, so He didn't want us to proceed or pursue that venture. We accept His answer and thank Him for stopping us from making a mistake. Pray in His will and the answer will most likely be "Yes." Accept His answer obediently, knowing His answer will be from His unconditional love for us.
