Young Men, What to Pray For and Look For in A Wife

Young men, what should you pray for and seek in a wife? The answer is quite simple but not definitive, and it is found in Genesis 2:18. "Then the Lord God said,'It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him.'"

Notice there are 2 things mentioned here: a helper and a suitable partner. God wants who you select as your wife to be a team player. Have you ever heard the saying, "Behind every successful man is a successful woman?" Trust God to bring into your life this kind of a woman. He knows who is best for you.

However, there is no such thing as "only one right person" for you. You may hear this a lot, but I am not aware of any biblical passages that support this belief, and it makes your search for a life partner a whole lot less frustrating. Many different women could be a suitable helper.

A suitable helper does NOT mean that women are less than men. What it refers to, in my opinion, is someone who, along with the man, will function as a couple to pick each other up when one of you is down, and build each other up with the goal of becoming the person God wants you to become, and to help each other realize your full potential and achieve your God-given dream. Read also Ecclesiastes 4:9-12.

She may also be a person who is strong where you are weak.

The ultimate outcome is to be more successful, in every area of your life, as a couple, than you ever could alone.
