Timing is important.

Timely advice is lovely, like golden apples in a silver basket. Proverbs 25:11. New Living Translation

How many times have you had someone criticize you in public? Isn’t your first reaction to be defensive and fight back?

Why not instead bite your tongue and take it God in prayer. Maybe they have a valid point.

Upon realizing this why not go to the person in private and thank them for the advice but kindly ask them to be more respectful of you and point any future problems in private.

If they are just being unfairly negative against you, just shut your mouth. Consider them to be the devils fishermen or women. They are just baiting you into a confrontation which even if you are right you will look bad. I consider them braying jackasses. They are loud and annoying but not saying anything important.

Just stand there, look at them and smile as if to say: “You are a fool bellowing in the wind.”

From my experience they become enraged and walk away in a huff looking stupid. Most times they will leave you alone but beware; they will watch you to see if they can catch you with your guard down to attack you again. That is why it is important to put on the armour of God which is mentioned in Ephesians 6:10

"Show me a person who is hyper-critical, and I will show you a person who is guilty of far worse sin in his own life. Greg Laurie
On the same terms, when you see someone in error, do not bring it out in public, do so discreetly in private. It may be best to take someone you trust with you to prevent them from committing slander against you.

Prayer: Please Jehovah Elohim (The Eternal Creator) create in my heart and mind that is open to listening to constructive criticism. Create in me the strength to not retaliate against unfair criticism and a wise mind and heart to know the proper timing to offer constructive criticism. I ask this in the name of the greatest Advisor Jesus Christ. Amen.
May the sunshine of Jesus’ sweet love bless you today and every day.
