Several years ago, while in Texas, I went to a military celebration. The highlight of the event was the fireworks display. I heard that it was a sight to behold. The fireworks display was to come at the end of the night.

I got ready during the day to go to the military celebration. My military i.d. got me in. It was a fun day. I ate a lot of different meals. I saw a lot of friends. It was a good time, but I was waiting for the fireworks display; because, that is the reason why I was there.

The lines to everything were long – very long! Throughout the day the long lines did not bother me; until the night came. Before the big fireworks display I stood in line for some form of refreshment. It was late and I was beginning to wonder when the fireworks display was going to take place.

It was clear that the fireworks display was going to take place soon, but my focus was somewhere else. While standing in the line someone came and stood in front of me. I stood in disbelief and frustration. I have been standing in this line forever – seemingly, and this stranger just stands in front of me! The situation got worse because this person brought more people in front of them. Now I was really upset. I questioned myself as to how I should address this. While I was upset with the people in front of me, the fireworks were going off in their entire splendor. People were looking up, but I was looking in front of me. Sure, I ended up getting my refreshment, but I missed the main purpose of being there!

Are you allowing something to cause you to miss the main things of life? Are you being so distracted by past unfair treatment that you are missing present opportunities? Are you so angry with someone else that you are forgetting about your relationship with God, and if this is the case, have you gotten to the point where you are willing to give everything to God except for this one sinful habit of bitterness?

Jesus Christ is the Big Picture! Are we getting to know Him personally?

Jesus Christ is God’s gift to us. He can fill all of the holes in our lives.

He is the master builder
He is the great heart healer
He is the best supplier that one can have
There is no friend that can compare to Him

God is not an angry judge looking forward to destroying people; instead, He is a loving Father wooing His creation back to Himself.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. John 3:16-17
