Terrors overtake him like a flood; a tempest snatches him away in the night Job 2:20 New International Version

People who are mean spirited (they say and do things to intentionally upset others and then laugh at them) will get their reward when they lay their head down to sleep. Their dreams will be filled with nightmares. They will be afraid of closing their eyes to sleep for terror (extreme fear) of the nightmares that will haunt them.

Oh they are so big and strong during the day, but little wimps at night.

Their sleep is like a little boat caught in a storm at sea being tossed about by huge waves of guilt.

As they get older it gets worse and worse. They may take medication to force themselves to sleep, but it will not be restful sleep.

I have seen many who in their younger days were loud mouthed bullies and laugh thinking they got away with it.

Starting in their middle age years they start having difficulty getting to sleep and when they do, their dreams are filled with nightmares.

Deep inside the Holy Spirit speaks to them and tries to convince them to repent.

Repent means to apologize for the bad you have done to someone, try to make it right if you have cheated or hurt them and stop the abusive behavior.

These pitiful creatures stubbornly refuse. Their reward is less and less peace in their lives and in their sleep.

Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Galatians 6:7 New International Version

If you are having difficulty getting a good night sleep, why not take it to God. If you have been mean spirited or said or done something wrong to someone, go make your peace with them quickly and see how quickly your pleasant sleep returns to you.

After all, is that not what happened to David?

He had an adulterous affair then had the woman’s husband murdered. Because of that his sleep was filled with nightmares.

Once he confessed and repented his pleasant sleep returned to him.

Prayer: Please Jehovah Ropheka (God our healer) please guide me how to heal a broken relationship in which I was mean spirited with _____ (put in the name of the man, woman or child you have been abusive to). I ask in the name of He who is the master healer Jesus Christ.Amen.
