11. And that, knowing the time, that now [it is] high time to awake out of sleep: for now [is] our salvation nearer than when we believed.
12. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.
13. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.
14. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to [fulfil] the lusts [thereof].
Romans 13:11-14
Tomorrow is a busy day at work, so you go to sleep early tonight. At least, that was the plan, until you remembered that a favorite show of yours was airing. You watched one episode, but found out that this is a marathon. Fortunate you! You get to see a number of episodes from your favorite show. Now it's 3 in the morning. You squeeze the red button on your remote control to turn off your television and close your eyes. You fade from consciousness to unconsciousness. You have an enjoyable dream. You star in that show that you spent hours watching before you went to bed.
The phone rings. This sounds real. You roll to the other side. The phone continues to ring. You realize that this is not a part of your dream. It is noon - you were supposed to be at work since 8a.m. Your boss tells you to come in to work and try to get as much of your project completed before 4p.m. - closing time, as you can. You get to work at 1p.m. You work vehemently to get as much done as you can, while you have time.
It is not time to be: idle, hoard the works of darkness, live wild lives, be adulterers, be shameless, get involved in petty strife, and allow your witness to be tarnished by envy!
It is time for us as Christians to realize that we do not have as much time today as we had yesterday.
It is time to put on the armour of light, the whole armour of God (Ephesians 6:10-18); live honest lives, stay away from being deceptive; and put on Christ, be imitators of Christ in every area of our lives! In doing these things we will not make provision (make room for, encourage, accommodate) for the flesh to fulfill its lusts!

Great analogy, and a message we all need. It IS indeed time! Thanks for sharing.
