As one day I meditated
I felt impressed to write,
taking pen and paper
with hesitation slight,
I realized the Lord
stood in front of me;
what I heard and wrote
has rearranged
my view of me.

It seemed to me that He
dictated as I wrote:
“I chose you.”
“You did not choose Me.”
“The gifts that reside in you
are not yours, they are Mine.”
“You may not choose when
to use them, nor where,
nor how; however, I do love you
and I will take care of you.”

Sometimes things that we should
know are not solid in our mind;
they are as words unattached,
floating, without full impact.
The words I wrote brought
change to me, I now relax in
confidence, understanding
that my one requirement
is to be available to Him,
listening, and resting in
the fact that He will be
and do through me what
He intends to do and be.

And when the worries that beset
us all, upon me begin to fall,
The words, “However, I do
love you and I will take care
of you” I recall; and my concerns
then cease. Yes, yes, this is
“Peace.” It is He who knows
what He wants of me,
and capable is He to do.
My one inexplicable joy
is to stay close, close to Him,
available, resting in His hand.

I‘ve considered how things for me are
changed when the matter of choice
is rearranged. “You did not chose Me,
I choose you.” I think two changes
have begun: I feel so special,
that is one; the second is that I
fully see that He is the “Energy”
in me, the Mover, the Shaker,
the Planner and Decider,
and so I understand, that I am free
to be relaxed, a tool much loved
held in His hand.
