Scripture Reading Matthew 22 and 25

Purpose! Purpose! What is the purpose! The hour is nigh. The Son is soon rising.
Purpose! Purpose! What is the purpose! The dawn it is nearing. His wrath is appearing.
And where are we? Caught up in complacency?
Where are we? Content with our spending?
Where are we? Lulled to sleep by TV?
Where are we? Stuffed full at the table, but now reaching for seconds?
Where are we? In a shell called isolation?
Where are we? Wrapped up in buying presents?
Where are we? Still angry and offended?
Where are we? Are our hands stained red? And what about our friends? Are their hands stained red?
What about our neighbors? What about strangers? What about our relatives and the people we can’t stand? Are their hands stained red?
Do we care?

Matthew 22:2-14:”The kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who arranged a marriage for his son, and sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding, and they were not willing to come…so those servants went out into the highways and gathered together all whom they found, both bad and good. And the wedding was filled with guests. But when the king came into see his guests, he saw a man there who did not have on a wedding garment…Then the king said to the servants, “Bind him hand and foot, take him away and cast him into outer darkness; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. For many are called but few are chosen.”

His blood made a way. But only His blood can cleanse our hands stained red. Jesus must be made known that the world might repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. He longs, aches, and grieves for humanity to come to know His love towards them. How can He be bear such suffering? His compassion and patience extend the wound in His side for mankind to come drink from to find true life. What can cleanse? Nothing but the blood of Jesus. Are our garments white?
