The First Noel


In the darkness of night,
Jesus came to the earth
When His mother, Mary,
In a stable, gave birth.

As shepherds, in the fields,
Saw a star shining bright,
They heard angels singing
Words of glorious delight.

An angel spoke to them
And said, “Don’t be afraid.
Your Savior’s been born
And in a manger is laid.”

When the angels left them,
The shepherds went to see
Why the angels were singing…
They saw the Baby.

After they visited,
They hurried to go tell
What the angel had told them
On that first Noel.

Mary sat quietly,
Pondering all from the start,
While she cradled the Savior
Close to her heart.

The Savior of us all,
God’s Gift to you and me,
Who, that first Noel,
Was Mary's sleeping Baby.
