I'm not an astronomer but I think it's accurate to say that on any given day, at any given moment the earth is rotating in territory it has never before traversed. Yes, we revolve around the sun and at first we might conclude from this fact that here we are in the precise spot where we were last year at this time, yet that's before we consider that the entire solar system is revolving or "migrating" as is the entire galaxy in which we reside. And if that is true astronomically it may make it a little easier to realize that we are never really in quite the same place in our earthly pilgrimage as we have been, though it may feel like it at times. In fact the stars and planets and galaxies are a good example and witness to us in that respect that, potentially, we can be in entirely new territory daily in our spiritual and intellectual experience, but not so new that we can't make any sense out of it (at least a little), but new as a reminder that we're all sojourners, pilgrims, strangers, and, yes, even immigrants on this earth and in this very nation where we live and move and have our being.
