Does it seem to you sometimes that the church, the called-out of God's people, the ones who have chosen to live according to God's will, to love Him and one another--have lost our fire and enthusiasm for real brotherhood? Has it become more like we get together for friendship and entertainment, without the warmth of love and support of one another? There is great strength in a group of God's people who would give their lives for God and each other, much more than the sum of its parts. In fact, it has indomitable power to influence others and so share the love of God. And what light a group like that shines in this dark world! When people who are lost and wandering in a mostly cold and indifferent universe find such a group, it is a life-giving source. True, it's costly to those who give and never ask how much or to whom, who just love and share, but they are the only hope this world has.

If we could just give up the game-playing and one-upmanship, we could shine the Holy Light into the dark, sad crevices of souls, lifting them, as well as ourselves, up to higher ground. All the money, power and prestige in the world cannot lighten one soul like the sweetness of sharing and living the love of Jesus. When there is a group of people who share that mindset, it is indomitable because the Power behind it is indomitable in this world as well as the next. It will draw folks as light draws a moth. The more selfless and loving they become, the more people will be drawn to the sparkling difference and join the enlightened group.

Let's live quietly and peacefully, loving and giving among our brothers and sisters as well as any others who need our love and help. Maybe the world will notice that real riches lie there and be drawn to our blessed Savior. Life is so short, money and power and prestige are so dead and ineffectual and short-lived. Let's walk in the Light. Let's rekindle the Flame! Is this possible, or am I dreaming of the Great Beyond?
