War of Life

I walk the streets alone

Comfortable in my own skin

Destination unknown

The lights and sounds engulf me

Whispering promises ever so sweetly

I want to follow these voices

To see where they lead

To taste forbidden fruit

To unchain the shackles

That bind my worldly body

Yet, these chains seem indestructable

They are not man made

The armor that is part of me

Cannot be pierced by earth's arrows

I have been ready for battle

My whole life

Given a breastplate of strength and love

To wear for eternity

The enemy is a formidable foe

Lurking around every dark corner

Preying on my weaknesses

Ready to pounce and devour

But I feel no fear

No amount of temptation

Can put up a stronghold around my heart

Or vanquish the strength

Given to me by my eternal ally

I am ready to storm the beach head

With my brother at my side

For together, we are invincible

The war of life is at hand

I march forward, into the fray
