Its so very hard for us to take in all the story

Something close to impossible for our human minds to comprehend

This gift the Father offers us so unimaginable

His Son, His only begotten, He didn’t have to send

We speak of love as if we fully grasp its true meaning

As if earthly emotions of mortals could ever quite compare

To the overwhelming, all consuming, adoring devotion

Our Father wraps around us at the sound of just one prayer

What would it take for us to believe?

In this most incredible story?

Know unhindered by shadows of doubt

We belong to this King of Glory

To accept Him, to claim Him, make Him our own

Allow our hearts to be His forever home

He has given everything, hoping we’ll believe

We owe Him everything, will we not believe?

If we could go there, to the day that split history in two

Stand with Him before Pilate, no hope left for appeal or reprieve

Hear the charges before Him, death sentence decreed without remorse

Walk the cobbled road by Him, carry His cross through the street

Throw our arms around Mary as she weeps at Jesus’ feet

Lay our hands upon the old rugged cross that bore our Savior’s weight

Pierce the skin of our fingertips on the thorns laid upon His head

Trace the blood’s flow as it washes our sins, transforms our fates

Is this what it would take for us to believe?
