Going Down
I asked God a question
As I was going down
What is at the bottom
Where am I bound

I’ve been down before
But never quite this hard
I cannot see the bottom
I’m afraid; it’s getting dark

I cry out for Him
There is not a sound
Not even an echo
I just keep on going down

I finally reached the bottom
Alone with my own sound
Nothing was at the bottom
It’s too far below the ground

Again I cry out for Him
You know what I found
Christ was at the bottom
He’d always been around

I asked God a question
As Christ laid me on solid ground
Why didn’t you answer
I cried out and heard not a sound

You weren’t prepared to listen, He said
You were on your way down
Your focus was on falling
Not on listening to my sound
