After Wes and Trevor had talked a little more and then embraced and left the beach, Trevor headed back to the Parkers' house. As he was driving along Pacific Coast Hwy., he suddenly had the need to have a good cry and ask Jesus for His forgiveness for falling away from Him. He could already feel the tears coming to his eyes and didn't want to get in an accident because of blurred vision, so he pulled over to the side of the road, turned off the car, put his head against the steering wheel, and began to cry. "Oh, Lord Jesus, please forgive me for all this time I spent blaming You for my parents' divorce and running from You and forgetting how much You really do love me and for running from Your will. I feel You have put these feelings for Miranda in me, and if You did, I will no longer run from them. I will love her and cherish her as You want me to and never let her go. Thank You for never giving up on me, even when I had given up on You. I love You, Jesus. Amen."

Immediately after his prayer, Trevor felt Jesus giving him peace and assurance of His love and forgiveness, as well as the assurance that Miranda was the one for him. After Trevor had finished crying, he got back on the road and headed back toward the Parkers'. When he got back he found Miranda sitting on the couch watching television. Her parents were already in bed, but Miranda wasn't tired. She hadn't been able to stop thinking about or praying for Trevor all day. She turned when she heard the door opened, and then she saw Trevor come in. "Trevor, you're back. You were gone a long time," she said. "Where were you?"

"Just at the beach. I was thinking," Trevor said. Then he walked over to the couch. "Miranda, may I sit next to you? I've got something I need to say."

Miranda nodded and fought the urge to bounce on the couch for joy. The idea of sitting next to Trevor caused excitement to well up within her.

Trevor sat down beside her and took a deep breath. "Miranda, I'm sorry I ran off this morning. I must have hurt your feelings." He paused before continuing. "The truth is, during the time I've been here, I've found myself falling in love with you, and I was scared, because I was afraid it might not work out, since my parents were together for twenty years and they got a divorce. But tonight God showed me that my feelings for you are from Him, and just because my folks didn't stay together doesn't mean we won't, if we were to get together. If you'll forgive me and give me a chance, I will show you I mean what I say. I love you, Miranda. I love you very, very much."

Miranda felt her heart beating. Tears of joy slid down her cheeks, and she threw her arms around Trevor's neck, smiling as she felt his arms go around her and hold her tightly. "Of course I forgive you and will give you another chance. I love you, too, Trevor, as much as you love me."

Trevor and Miranda looked into each other's eyes, then shared a kiss.
