THANKSGIVING
It has been two years now since I started writing down my daily thanksgiving. It has been a great learning process; especially becoming aware of the little things I take for granted, has been quite a revelation to me. And I found out every day that there is more to learn.
I especially do enjoy those Sunday mornings when the spirit of God just rouses the congregation to stand and give testimonies of God’s goodness. It always amazes me how it seems as though the flood gates open after one person stands up to testify; then another follows, and another, till the service leader has to step in and ask for others to come forward at another session. Some thanksgiving brings tears to the eyes and yet others, unavoidable laughter. All in all, it is a joyful occasion and there aren’t any words to describe it appropriately. I have a feeling that when we get to heaven and get to see all that the Lord has done for us, even those things that we cannot now see, then the thanksgiving session will be very very long. That is why it can only be in the eternal!
Though I enjoy seeing others testify in front of fellow believers, I have grappled with the prospect of doing so myself. However, I have been thinking, thinking about what it might have cost the son of God to be displayed so humiliatingly before men so that I would be saved. He spared nothing; held back nothing, for my sake. I for one have only had to receive it joyfully- no torment, no mockery, no floggings and no rejections. I have not come to the point of shedding my own blood. When I think about it that way, I see how easy it is to stand and testify of his goodness in the midst of his congregation. I am making my way to the front very soon, to lift up his name!
