I'm lost in sin, once found by You;
    I'm a prey to foolish ways.
Find me, Lord; be as true
    as You are the Ancient of Days.

Break my legs like a lamb;
   keep me near the Shepherd.
I know He's the great I AM;
   and Satan's like a leopard.

Cut me down, my dear Lord,
   cut me down for good.
For too long sin's adored;
   I'd leave if I could.

It is good from Your hands,
   Your staff and rod to break me.
If it's part of Your plans
    let this Truth set me free.

Then I can heal near Your presence,
   to be Your heart's desire.
To know this love of holy essence,
   near the cleansing fire.

Cut me down, my dear Lord,
   cut me down for good.
For too long sin's adored;
   I'd leave if I could.

My cutting down won't be like Yours,
   being cut down in death.
Though later raised by divine force,
   no life in You was left.
So let me, please, be like You,
   as much as You desire.
To lose my life for life in You
   and know Your brilliant fire.

Cut me down; it is good,
   long as it's from Your hand.
Raise me up from the hellish brood;
   I wait to hear Your command.

   cut me down for good.

   I'd leave if I could.

Inspired by the Johnny Cash song, "God Is Gonna Cut You Down", with a positive twist. It is a good thing to be cut down by the Lord, if it leads one to Him; far better than being cut down by His enemy.
